American rock, hard rock and country rock band 38 Special from Jacksonville, Florida, was formed in 1974. The band comprises Don Barnes, Donnie Van Zant, Danny Chauncey, Larry Junstrom, Bobby Capps and Gary Moffatt. The band also performed under the name Thirty-Eight Special. They achieved mainstream success in 1981 with their breakthrough album, Wild-Eyed Southern Boys, which was praised by critics and received platinum certification. It also produced popular hit singles including "Hold On Loosely", "First Time Around", "Wild-Eyed Southern Boys" and "Back Alley Sally".
