Ian Matthias Bavitz, better known as his stage name Aesop Rock, was born on June 5, 1976 in Long Island, New York, the United States. He is an American rapper and producer performing alternative hip hop. He began his professional music career in 1997 releasing a debut album Music for Earthworms which was a self-financed album. The record label debut happened in 2000 and that was Float LP. The album was released under Mush Records. Rock changed his record company and the follow up album Labor Days was released through Definitive Jux, a label he is still signed with. Bazooka Tooth is rock’s fourth album and it is considered to be somewhat a breakthrough from the underground scene.
