Bat for Lashes is a stage name of a British singer Natasha Khan, born October 25, 1979, in Brighton, the UK. She is of British and Pakistani origin. Natasha is a multi instrumentalist, graduated in music and visual arts. She was highly influenced by Steve Reich and Susan Hiller and in 2006 she released her debut album Fur and Gold. The album has been certified Gold by the BPI having become prominent not only in Britain but in France as well (#130). The album was nominated for the Mercury prize. It spawned the singles Trophy, The Wizard, Prescilla, What’s a Girl To Do? Only the last song could enter the chart, it reached # 141. Bat for Lashes is compared to Kate Bush, Annie Lennox, Tori Amos, Fiona Apple and others. The second album is titled Two Suns, it was released in 2009.
