English alternative rock band Coldplay was formed in 1998, in London, England. The band comprises Chris Martin (lead vocals, keyboards, guitar), Jonny Buckland (lead guitar), Guy Berryman (bass guitar), and Will Champion (drums, backing vocals, other instruments). They achieved worldwide success with their debut album, Parachutes (2000), which was nominated for the Mercury Prize. It produced four hit singles, "Shiver", "Yellow", "Trouble" and "Don't Panic". In 2008, the band released their latest album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, which won Best Rock Album at the 2009 Grammy Awards and was the best selling album of 2008. The album's single, "Lost!", have several official versions including vocalist Chris Martin's separate recording with a piano accompaniment and a version that features American rapper Jay-Z.
