American indie rock and dance-punk band Gossip from Olympia, Washington, was formed in 1999. The band consists of Beth Ditto, Brace Paine and Hannah Blilie. Their style has been described as "a soul or gospel" voice with "a sort of funky punk soundtrack". In fact, their music is the result of many influences: the band stated a liking for post-punk bands Birthday Party and Siouxsie And The Banshees but also for other genres like dance and hip-hop. In 1999 the Independent record label, K Records, released The Gossip's first recording, their eponymous debut EP, The Gossip in 1999. In 2009, they released their new album, Music for Men, which yielded the lead single, "Heavy Cross" (UK #37, Australia #7, Italy #3, Germany #7, Austria #15, Switzerland #3).
