Swedish melodic death metal band In Flames from Gothenburg, Sweden, was formed in 1990. The band comprises Anders Fridén, Jesper Strömblad, Björn Gelotte, Peter Iwers and Daniel Svensson. Signed with Wrong Again Records, they released their full-length debut, Lunar Strain (1994), followed by the EP Subterranean (1995). After signing to Nuclear Blast Records, they released The Jester Race (1996), which produced several singles such as "Moonshield", "The Jester's Dance", "Artifacts of the Black Rain" and "Graveland". The Jester Race is considered a classic album of the Gothenburg style of metal, along with At the Gates' Slaughter of the Soul and Dark Tranquillity's The Gallery, exhibiting the dual guitar leads, growled vocals and acoustic sections typical of the genre.
