Jemma Griffiths, known under her stage name Jem is a Welsh singer-songwriter working in different genres, like pop, trip hop, folk and new wave. She was born on May 18, 1975 in Penarth, Wales, the United Kingdom. At the beginning of her music career she was a DJ agent and promoted club nights for quite a long of period. In 1999 she moved to London where she got acquainted with producer Guy Sigsworth (Bjork and Frou Frou). Later she moved to Brooklyn and the demo version of her debut song Finally Woken was broadcasted by the Los Angeles radio station KCRW. She was signed by ATO records and her debut album Finally Woken was released in March 2004. The album spawned several singles like They, Just a Ride, Wish I and 24. It got moderate success.
