American pop rock and soul singer-songwriter Kelly Clarkson (birth name Kelly Brianne Clarkson) was born on April 24, 1982, in Burleson, Texas, United States. She rose to fame when she won the first season of the television series American Idol in 2002. Her debut album, Thankful, was released in 2003. It debuted at number one on the American Billboard 200 and went on to be certified double platinum. She achieved mainstream success in 2008 with her most commercially-successful album, Breakaway, which produced five singles "Breakaway", "Since U Been Gone", "Behind These Hazel Eyes" and "Because of You". The album received two awards at the 2006 Grammy Awards including "Best Pop Vocal Album" and "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance" for the single "Since U Been Gone".
