American & Latin Grammy award-winning latin, salsa, pop and latin pop singer-songwriter and actor Marc Anthony was born on September 16, 1968, in Manhattan, New York City, New York, U.S. He is best known for his ballads and wide-ranging tenor vocals, and was the first solo salsa act to ever sell out Madison Square Garden. He began his career as a session vocalist for Freestyle music and Underground New York House music acts. After changing his name to avoid confusion with his namesake, Anthony worked as a songwriter and backing vocalist for pop acts including Menudo and the Latin Rascals. In 2002, he released his most successful album, Mended, which produced several hit singles such as "I Need You" and "I've Got You". The album also peaked at number 3 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart.
