| Biography: |
British hip-hop, neo-soul, electronica and post-punk band Massive Attack from Bristol, England, UK, was formed in 1988. The band comprises Robert "3D" Del Naja ("D") and Grant "Daddy G" Marshall ("G"). Their style is often thought of as being experimental. Some of their most noted songs have been without choruses and have featured dramatically atmospheric dynamics, conveyed through either epic distorted guitar crescendos, lavish orchestral arrangements or prominent, looped/shifting basslines, often underpinned by high and exacting production values, involving sometimes painstaking digital editing and mixing. Their debut album, Blue Lines (1991), yielded three singles, "Unfinished Sympathy", "Be Thankful for What You've Got" and "Safe from Harm". The track "Unfinished Sympathy" was described as one of the best songs of all time. It was nominated for a BRIT Award as best single of 1991.
