Biography: American indie rock band Pavement from Stockton, California, was formed in 1989. The band comprised Stephen Malkmus, Bob Nastanovich, Scott Kannberg, Steve West and Mark Ibold. Although the band experienced only moderate commercial success, it achieved a significant cult following and was one of the most popular and influential lo-fi rock bands of the 1990s. In 1992, they released their debut album, Slanted and Enchanted, which was ranked number 134 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time, in 2003. The album's name is taken from the title of a cartoon made by Silver Jews frontman David Berman. The album also produced several singles such as "Summer Babe (Winter Version)", "Trigger Cut/Wounded-Kite At :17", "No Life Singed Her" and "In the Mouth a Desert".
