| Biography: |
American avant-garde and noise rock band The Residents from Shreveport, Louisiana, was formed in 1969. Throughout their career, spanning nearly four decades, they have not disclosed their identity. The Residents rose to fame in 1974 with their debut album, Meet the Residents, which spawned several singles "Guylum Bardot" and "Boots", and which you may download in mp3 from our site. The cover was a parody of Meet the Beatles! (the Beatles' first US release). In 1980, the band released Commercial Album. The album used several session musicians, including Chris Cutler, Snakefinger and Fred Frith as well as two anonymous guest vocalists, Lene Lovich ("Picnic Boy") and Andy Partridge ("Margaret Freeman"). The faces on the album cover are John Travolta and Barbra Streisand. The band's latest album, The Bunny Boy, was released in 2008.
