Steve Winwood, birth name Stephen Lawrence Winwood is an English soul, rock and jazz musician born on May 12, 1948 in Handsworth, Birmingham, England. Winwood is a multi-instrumentalist playing guitar, mandolin, violin, drums, organ, bass and keyboards. He is known not only for hit successful solo career but also for playing in such bands like the Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Blind Faith, and Go. He is considered one of the best singers. Rolling Stone magazine included him in their list of 100 Greatest Singers of all Time (#33). During his career, he has released nine studio albums, one live album and featured several compilations. Two most commercially successful albums are Back in the High Life (3 x Multi-Platinum) and Roll with It (2 x Multi-Platinum). The last album spawned the eponymous single number one.
