Dutch symphonic rock, symphonic metal and gothic metal band Within Temptation was formed in 1996. The band comprises Sharon den Adel (Vocals), Robert Westerholt (Rhythm Guitar, death vocals), Ruud Adrianus Jolie (Lead Guitar), Jeroen van Veen (Bass), Martijn Spierenburg (Keyboards) and Stephen van Haestregt (Drums). They achieved maunstream success in 2004 with their breakthrough album, The Silent Force, which produced the singles, "Stand My Ground", "Memories", "Angels" and "Jillian (I'd Give My Heart)". This album was produced by Daniel Gibson and an instant number 1 in The Netherlands and charted well in many European countries. "Stand My Ground" and "Memories", the first singles from the new album, continued the band's run of chart success, culminating in a second Edison Award.
