Zecchino d’oro is an international children song festival held annually in Italy. It was founded by Cino Tortorella in 1959 in Milan, Italy. Since then it is held every year. In 1961 the festival moved in Bologna and was taken up by Antoniano Institute. In 1963 Mariele Ventre, the conductor and the director organized the children choir called Piccolo Coro dell' Antoniano. Since 1973 the festival has become really international. The choir performs 7 Italian and 7 international songs and the children’s jury chooses the best of it. The winner gets the prize – Golden Sequin. You can download the best seasons of Zecchino d’oro in mp3 from our site. Many people notice that the real winners of the festival not the children who sing and interpret the songs but the authors and that the real contest is between songwriters and composers.
