American country, pop, Christmas music and children's music animated band Alvin and the Chipmunks from Fresno, California, was formed in 1958. The band comprises Ross Bagdasarian, Jr., Janice Karman, Steve Vining, Randy Miller and Ali Dee Theodore. Initially the act was created by Ross Bagdasarian, and during this time, they performed under the stage name David Seville and the Chipmunks. In 2007, the animated film, Alvin and the Chipmunks, was released through the Bagdasarian Productions (production company that holds the rights to Alvin and the Chipmunks). It became a huge commercial success. At the same year, the licensed soundtrack, Alvin and the Chipmunks OST, was released through Razor & Tie record label.
