She is known for her novel Wuthering Heights, that is considered to be classics of English literature. Emily is the fifth child out of six. Her older sisters were sent to school and Emily was studying there also but for a short time period. When the typhus epidemic swept the school, Maria and Elizabeth were sent home where they died. Three remaining sisters Anne, Charlotte and Emily were taught at home. When Emily was 17 she was sent to girls’ school where Charlotte was teaching. However she returned home very quickly due to homesickness. Anne was sent in school instead of her. The sisters wanted to open their own school later but failed.
